Continued digital native or digital immigrant

We still have time in class to keep writing and everyone else is so I'm going to add on to my previous post...I know my teachers in elementary were digital immigrants for the most part, but they wanted the students to grow up learning the new material so all the students would be native. In junior high, the teachers seemed more like they thought we were wasting our time using the internet, playing videogames, and watching tv. In high school it was a little more of the same thing. The teachers always made us think the internet information was useless and incorrect. In college, however, we use the internet a lot more and the teachers encourage it a lot more.

Digital immigrant or digital native

I am definately a digital native. I've always had the new technology around me. One example from school where I differed from a teacher was in 6th grade. My dad knew the teacher for years so he treated me differently from other students (I know its wrong but it's true). Anyways, one time he offered me an opportunity to skip a math test and get an A if I would get on the internet and look for a pickup truck for the price he wanted so he could find one to buy online. He didn't know how to use the internet and knew I did. Pretty funny story in my opinion.

Technology

There are many technologies that are important to me but the most important (in terms of media) would have to be:
1) the computer- I use the computer for the internet constantly for school, work, staying updated with news and information, and keeping in touch with everyone.

Other technologies (in terms of media)

2) television
3) playstation/xbox consoles
4) alarm clock
5) cell phone
6) car radio

Overall theme for autobiographies:

I'm thinking that gaming may be a good subject for my autobiography. I have played games my entire life and have loved playing them. I play all kinds of games (and probably wasted more hours of my life than I should have...) Lately I have not had much time to play them so I don't have the latest consoles or games, but I still play them every now and then with friends and know which ones are out.

Discourse Community

I am part of the Fantasy Football community. I only recently started playing it with my brother. Only people who know what fantasy football is would really understand what I am talking about. This discourse community is probably marked as a masculine type because football is considered a manly thing. I know women play it also but it is generally labeled as masculine.
